I bought two FEZ cerbot from GHI https://www.ghielectronics.com/catalog/product/403
These are .NET micro-controllers with wheels and a couple sensors with 6 gadgeteer ports for expansion.
First thing I'm going to try is to get one to stay inside a box or circle of a different color.
The robots have a pair of reflectivity sensors on the front. Should be pretty easy to have the bot turn around and avoid the edges.
I have mounted IR compound eye's to each robot using the exact same build procedure so the robots will have identical hardware… for now.
I envision having a balloon kill switch, and a IR start command to start the fight.
I like how i3 has an overhead camera tracking the locations to be beamed to the robots for further usage, not sure if I'll get that extreme or not though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exUIDctnmfQ
Useful information on using the IR Compound Eye with Gadgeteer
Todo:
- Determine how multiple robots will be able to use IR sensors at the same time
- One possible method would be to have them take turns and signal when it's safe for the other to turn on it's IR. I would think some experimentation would be needed to have this work
- Define rules
- Build battle arena
