The mill was upgraded using a kit from MacPod LLC. The kit is pretty self explanatory and simple, the only thing left to do is craft the enclosure for the board.
We used the reference designs as inspiration for the installation choosing to mount the kit inside the spindle control box with a bezel to hide any ugliness.
First the bezel and lens were cut from 1/4in and 1/8in acrylic using the laser cutter (LaserBeta link)
Next the back of the bezel was milled to accept the 1/8in acrylic lens so that the two would sit flush against the face of the control box (Heeks File)
Finally the control box was cut and filed to fit the profile of the seven-segment displays.
Then everything was buttoned up with the appropriate spacers.
