The band rides on two wheels rotating in the same plane. Bandsawing produces uniform cutting action as a result of an evenly distributed tooth load. Bandsaws are used for woodworking, metalworking, or for cutting a variety of other materials. They are particularly useful for cutting irregular or curved shapes, but can make straight cuts. The minimum radius of a curve that can be cut on a particular saw is determined by the width of the band and its kerf. ===Safety Rules=== In addition to the zones:shop safety rules the following should be observed when using this tool. * Follow the 3” rule from the blade; always keep fingers 3” from the blade. * Check the blade tension and tracking before starting. * Don’t cut stock that is not flat on the bottom without a jig. * Keep a balanced stance at the band saw. * Never clear small pieces while the blade is moving. * Never use your thumbs to push toward the blade. * Never back out of a curve cut while the machine is running. ===Useful Links=== * KCWG Bandsaw Safety Rules ===Contacts for training== Contact Brian Adams or Carl Raymond for safety training. ===Safety Training=== * Review of machine and shop safety rules. * Proper procedures for preparing / setup operations. * Proper operation and control of machine. * Proper procedures for cleanup. ===Maintenance Log==
